Farewell Anne
For those of you that don’t know, I’ve been Yelping it up and been enjoying ding so for the past 7 years. In that time I’ve been to places all up and down the east coast, taking pictures, rubbing elbows with other foodies, and of course, writing about all the fabulous (and not so fabulous) food places I’ve been to. So many opportunities have been opened up to me through using the app to talk about food, and one person who has been a pleasure to get to know during my time using yelp is Anne. She’s served as the Yelp Coastal Virginia community manager for the past 2 years planning events for Elite Yelpers in Hampton Roads while raising awareness for many great local businesses in the area. Sadly, she recently announced that she will be moving out of the area to San Diego, and serving as the community manager over there.
I’m going to miss all the effort, creativity, and dedication that Anne put into the local foodie scene both on and offline. Even in the pandemic, she sprung into action by making consistent Instagram and Facebook posts as well as by planning virtual meetups and events to make the foodies in the area still feel like they had a sense of community.
By far my favorite memory/event that Anne planned was the “2019 Yelpy Awards.” Where I was surprised by being honored with the 2019 Yelptime Achievement award. I seriously was not expecting to receive the award; in addition, hearing her kind words about my foodie adventures was very heartwarming, and it is a night that I will never forget. I was even featured on the official yelp blog, you can see her kind words about me below.
I and so many others are going to miss all the hard work she put into making the Yelp Coastal Virginia local foodie scene fun and exciting, as well as her bringing awareness to so many local businesses. Farewell Anne, I wish you the best of luck in San Diego, and I hope we can meet up again soon.
